Well naturally, when you go to the heart of any of our favourite rites and rituals, its spirit is something deeply personal and incredibly beautiful. More than anything, Valentine's Day calls us to look honestly into our hearts. Who or what do we really appreciate in our lives? Are we living out who we really are with those we love? Are there ways we could love ourselves better? Have we lost faith in the magic that happens when our hearts really are allowed to be in charge?
This is the inspiration for much of our work on the Origin Psychic Line. In the quiet and intimate space of a psychic reading, you can be confident that your heart can be heard - its doubts and wounds, but also its hopes and dreams.
I hope you'll enjoy this month's digital edition of Origin Connections. We have some exciting innovations - we welcome the first of our guest contributors, Dr Jonathan Young. Dr Young focuses much of his writing on the area of 'Personal Mythology' - you'll find his article about Imbolc on page 11. I'm sure you'll also enjoy Rod Nicholson's 'Myth Buster' feature - this is the first in a series we'll be presenting in the coming months - it begins on page 7. And don't forget to celebrate Chinese New Year on February 3rd - this year is the Year of the Rabbit. Being a Rabbit myself, of course I'm excited about this!
There are literally hundreds of sites with psychic readers who claim to be gifted, genuine, 100% accurate, give good psychic readings and so on. Yet, finding the right psychic for many people seems to be a hit and miss affair. There is no way that you can do anything to guarantee a good psychic reading but there are ways that you can look more carefully at the options in front of you in order to make the right choice.
There is still a widely held belief for many people that if you tell a psychic reader nothing of your situation or query, then you receive a more ‘accurate’ reading – the psychic first must demonstrate their ability to you, or tell you something they couldn’t possibly know. Well, whilst in some cases when a client asks for a ‘general reading’, they are wanting an overview of their direction, in the vast majority of cases, this is just a way for a client to conceal from the psychic what their question really is.
There’s no doubt that to even the most casual observer of popular culture in the last decade, magic has become a firm favourite in books, movies and television. Harry Potter, the Chronicles of Narnia, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Lord of the Rings – these have all been enormous commercial success magical stories, and across a number of media, yet they are magical stories which take us into another world. Wizards, magical terminology, and mythical creatures have become part of the vocabulary of children, and of course the young at heart. But why are stories about magic so popular again, in what is undoubtedly a high-tech age? What is it that they communicate to us? What is it that captures our imagination, and which sparks our curiosity about the magical and the unknown? Maybe, just maybe, there are elements contained in these stories, which are not so unknown at all. Maybe what’s happening is that we are recognising things we’ve always known, and understandings about how the universe really operates.
The Psychic Arts have been with us throughout history. In this insightful article, Cathy Cox explores how intuition still helps us in our everyday lives.
Psychic arts has been with us since time immemorial. From the Native American shamans, to the medicine man of South America, the druids of Europe to the oracles of Asia, as well as the Australian Aboriginal people. Across all cultures, people have accessed their psychic powers to help themselves and their people, and to guide them in their daily lives. Though the myriad of different practices and beliefs, traditions and customs, the one thing shared by all of these cultures was the ability to use their intuition and move into a different realm of consciousness and access knowledge which they could then pass on to others or use themselves. This wasn’t considered spooky or scary - it was a natural part of life that was respected, accepted and recognised as being of great value.
Why do so many people believe in psychic phenomena? Because they have psychic experiences! And why do they have psychic experiences when science and psychology tells us these experiences are not real? In this article, Cathy Cox explores the reasons for the undeniable popularity of psychics today.
The latest Gallup Poll (Gallup and Newport 1991) shows that about a third of Americans believe in telepathy (psychic ability) and about a quarter claim to have experienced it themselves. Rather fewer have experienced clairvoyance or psycho-kinesis (PK), but still the numbers are very high and have not been decreasing over the years. Previous surveys have found similar results, and also that the most common reason for belief in the paranormal or psychic ability is personal experience (Palmer 1979; Blackmore 1984). In short, people believe in psychic experiences because they have them!
Have you ever thought about becoming a psychic? We all have psychic abilties, developing them can make an enormous difference to your life. Strong psychic powers can transform a person, increasing confidence, improving relationships and helping in the making of more intelligent and appropriate decisions. Each of us has this enormous psychic ability which often lies underneath our thinking minds, untapped and unused.
Psychic abilities have been equated with fortune-telling and predicting the future. It has been associated with gypsy like women with dark eyes and an odd way of dressing. Although there is an element of foretelling that goes with psychic abilities, a real psychic can go to much deeper levels of the universe and see things from a far more powerful perspective than the ability to make a simple prediction.
Your psychic blueprint is how you’re identified in the subconscious. Just as your fingerprint identifies you at subtle levels of what we call physical matter, your psychic blueprint is how you’re identified at more and more subtle levels of the subconscious. If you want to know what your fingerprint reveals to you, you have to study your DNA, your cells, your genes – all those very subtle levels of matter, in the conventional sense. If you want to know what your psychic blueprint means, that psychic fingerprint that you hold, then you also need to study and learn about yourself at those more and more subtle levels of the subconscious, of the psychic realms – where psychic matter resides.
I'm sure that some of you have been told already about your own personal psychic ability, even though you're the one having the psychic reading. Psychics often pick up on their client's psychic or healing ability as part of the general open environment of a genuine psychic reading. I know this has happened many times with me over the years. It stands to reason that if you're having a psychic reading, then there's a great likelihood that you believe in psychic readings, and that you're open to your own intuition and subconscious power.
A psychic reading is an interaction between the psychic reader and the client. Your role in bringing forth information is just as important as the reader who is relaying it.
Before having a reading, it is important to have a relaxed, open mind, so that real knowledge can emerge. The more open you are, the better.
Having an open mind does not mean that you have to take on every bit of information that is shared with you. You need to discern what feels right for you. But if you go in with a suspicious mind and heart, you will restrict not only the flow of real knowledge, but also what you gain from the reading. For example, if you have been hurt in your relationships with other people, you may have developed a protective barrier around your heart and mind. Be conscious of this, so as not to let it limit your reading.
Below is a list of steps to follow to ensure you get the most from your psychic reading.
To do list:
Step 1. Choose a time in the day when you are least likely to be interrupted.
Step 2. Light a candle and sit upright in a chair in front of it. The light of the candle acts as a symbol of clarity and focus. It can help you during your reading to remain focused on the flow between yourself and the psychic
Step 3. Breathe in the light of the candle and breathe out any anxieties you might feel. Repeat this twice.
Step 4. Write down on a piece of paper what you want to get from the reading. eg. “I want the knowledge to heal my relationship hurt.” Writing down your intention is very important because the psychic will pick up on this and tend to feed it back to you. If your intention is unclear, then the psychic’s message may be unclear to you.
Step 5. Focus on the candle and imagine it burning away all the preconceived thoughts you might have about your situation or what you are likely to hear. There is a difference between having an intention and having an expectation. An intention is flexible, whereas an expectation, if not met, creates disturbance and frustration for the client. You may have an intention to understand how to heal your relationship problems, but having an expectation that the psychic will do that by telling you the date you will get married to your partner may not be the way in which the psychic helps you to do this.
Step 6. Plant your feet firmly on the ground and begin.
In a psychic reading it is important that a client is grounded and aware. Too many airy thoughts and struggles in your mind will not allow the psychic knowledge to take shape in a way that is practical for you.
Following this guide will assist you in getting the most from your psychic reading.
Remember, the most important thing - Enjoy yourself!
Psychic readings don’t have to be heavy and serious. Self-discovery is an empowering experience and will uplift your spirits if you let it
